20TH CENTURY MASTER MULTIPLES AT
JUDITH RACHT GALLERY

Following on the success of a similar show a year ago, Judith Racht Gallery has mounted an impressive exhibit of lithographs, silkscreens, and 3D multiples by some of the 20th century’s most masterful artists, including Jasper Johns, Josef Albers, Roy Lichtenstein, Sol LeWitt, and many others.

“People started to telephone while the last show was still up, saying they had pieces they wished to consign.  It just made perfect sense for us to start the 2006 summer season with another print show,” commented Judith Racht, owner of the eponymous gallery which celebrates its 20th year in business this summer.

The exhibit includes one entire room devoted to works by Roy Lichtenstein.  Among the highlights are two felt banners by Lichtenstein, built by the Betsy Ross Flag and Banner Company:  Pistol (1964) and Thunderbolt (1968).  Also on view is Lichtenstein’s Crying Girl (1965), truly a classic pop-art image.

This year’s show adds sculptural multiples, moving the exhibit off the walls and into the middle of the gallery rooms.  Sculptural artists represented include Sol LeWitt, Richard Hunt, Alice Aycock and others.

“Multiples are a wonderful entry point for many people into collecting art.  In fact, I began my own career working with the Lakeside Studio selling prints; the knowledge I gained then has served me well through 20 years in business for myself,” said Racht.

20th Century Master Multiples runs through June 25, 2006.  Further information is available at 269-469-1080 or e-mail.
