Collections. Groupings. Multiples.
The visual impact grows exponentially as you line things up. Repetition amplifies the shape, the color, the texture.
A row of hat forms, primitively carved wooden structures with a practical past become rustic art when lined up. The colors of age and the texture of wood rubbed smooth add to the beauty. We placed them on a simple Amish bench table -- two single-board benches held side by side at table height with wood braces.
Chicago-based artist Bill Zuehlke knows a thing or two about impact. His mixed media work often comes in the form of installations with several hundred pieces. Flight of Dreams is a collection of golden wings mounted on small picture frames, soaring into the room. Each wing was created with individual feathers, painted brilliant gold, and detailed with stripes or dots. They are truly a dream to behold.
Hearts should always come in multiples. Jim Dine's Heart at the Opera is joined by a pair of heart forms in just the right shade of pink. More to love!
Queue Up! continues through July 1. Gallery hours are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 11-5 Michigan time, or by appointment.
