Drawing.

It can be obsessively detailed or simplistically abstract. It can have bold color or all the subtleties of the grayscale.

A drawing might be the exercise leading up to another work of art. Or it can stand on its own.

In our Drawing Room you'll discover all of these possibilities. Chicago artists Rodney Carswell, Renee DuBois and Scott Wolniak all produce beautiful works on paper.

Come explore with us!

Rodney Carswell recently retired from the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois, Chicago, after serving on the faculty since 1983.  His drawings and paintings have been exhibited extensively, and are held in public and private collections around the country.

Renee DuBois has recently returned to her artwork after a twenty year hiatus in business, including owning Flo Restaurant in Chicago.  She has a degree in painting and drawing from the University of New Mexico, and a Masters in ceramics from Illinois State University.

Scott Wolniak exhibits his works regularly in Chicago and around the country.  His three dimensional “weeds” were seen recently at Judith Racht Gallery in last summer’s “Layer on Layer” collage show.  Scott was one of 12 new artists selected for solo exhibits in Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art’s 2005 “12x12” show.

The Opening Artists Reception will be on Saturday, July 7 from 6-8 pm EST. The party features special treats from our new neighbor-across-the-highway, Seasons Harvest (www.seasonsharvest.com). We hope to see you there!
