F-U-N at Judith Racht Gallery! After 22 years in Harbor Country, owner Judith Racht says “summer is still fun, because we get the joy of sharing with wonderful people!” In the opening show of the summer season, Racht shares Louise Pappageorge, Barbara Brandel and Benjamin C. Tinsley’s artistry, plus playful and unique objects and surprises at the Harbert gallery, located at Prairie Road and Red Arrow Highway in the brick school building. The exhibit opens Saturday, May 31 and runs through Sunday, June 22. Each of the featured artists has a way to make you say “what fun!” (right) Function finds a new life as Louise Pappageorge reclaims vintage lace, fringe and cord into structures, which are then treated with wax and rust to reveal fascinating wall sculptures. Beautiful from a distance, but be sure to look up close to appreciate the detailed work. Regular gallery hours beginning May 31 are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11-5 EST. Other times by appointment or happenstance, contact us at 269-469-1080 or e-mail. |

(right) Arizona-based Barbara Brandel creates wall gardens of buttons and beads. These whimsical works sparkle in the light, and wave in a gentle breeze, casting shadows that are full of life. Brandel’s travel collages, made from postage stamps and paint, are bright reminders that it’s the season to be on the move! |
